Do you ever find yourself sitting on your couch alone on a Friday night with nothing but a bottle of grassy chartreuse and a imitate of The Boys in the Band, weeping tears of scorn? Well weep no more: Prancony Perkins is here to help! I know we’re all fond of a fine gay storyline that ends in gratuitous bawling, breaking up, and/or arbitrary death scenes; similarly, who can deny having a bit of nostalgia for the club-going double life, the long build to a tearful coming-out scene, and bulldozing over straight female characters to advance the gay man’s personal plot? But it’s Friday, and we need to rehydrate, so let’s have a change of pace. Here are a couple flicks that really made me smile – because they’re joyous, and because they manage to entertain while also having something insightful to say about relationships in general and lgbtq+ life in particular.

Generally, I always felt a little like Dorothy, in the meet of the Wizard for the first time. Or enjoy the Cowardly Lion, stroking my retain tail. So to speak. But he is also a very generous host. The writers I know really, deeply appreciate the truth that Stephen has given writers a platform and some pop-culture cred. I think he’ll last to do that with the unused show.
