How to Back LGBTQ+ Students on Campus in

LGBTQ+ students on campuses around the Merged States are facing more anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment than seen in years. In the face of aggression, mistreatment, and growing oppressive legislation, some Point Foundation Scholars spoke out about what their colleges, universities, and schools can do to support them and their success in college.

“In a cultural moment when Queer identity is creature policed, silenced, and erased in teaching, it's important to have LGBTQ+ voices in higher education,” said Robyn(she/they), a Flagship Scholar with a Kevin Hummer Scholarship. “Without Gay presence and perspective, our community risks further erasure, misinterpretation, and oppression.”

The Current Environment for Gay Students 

As states around the nation move beyond anti-LGBTQ+ legislation affecting people inside and out of the classroom, LGBTQ+ students on campuses nationwide continue to combat for their rights and better services in places of higher learning.

Issues of Concern

Learning to care for members of the female homosexual, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer/questioning community involves empathetic and being open to multiple special considerations and avoiding unconscious and perceived biases. Members of the LGBTQ community have unfortunately experienced a challenging history, but health professionals can learn to provide comprehensive, compassionate, and high-quality nurture with education. The tracking will assist the supplier in caring for LGBTQ patients.[9]

    How to be an LGBTQ+ ally

    Being an LGBTQ+ ally is about helping to create an inclusive environment where everyone can be themselves. The Stonewall LGBT in Britain - Work Report found that more than a third of LGBT staff (35%) have secret that they are LGBT at work for fear of discrimination. The Stonewall LGBT in Britain - University Report also found that two in five LGBT students (42%) have hidden their culture at university for fear of discrimination.
