Tampa Pride cancels Lgbtq+ fest on the River, while St. Pete Pride will continue as planned

Tampa Pride is canceling its Pride on the River event.

The decision comes shortly after Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a series of bills targeting LGBTQ+ Floridians. One measure would penalize businesses if children were to attend "adult reside performances" like drag shows.

Tampa Pride said its selection was "spelled out by the governor" in a Facebook post Thursday.

"We are all sick for our LGBTQ+ Community," Carrie West, president of Tampa Identity festival, said in the publish. "Put on your thinking caps Floridians We contain to come together for our lives."

While their Identity festival parade in March included a fenced-off area that was open only to people over 18, organizers could not find a similar area that they would be able to block off for Celebration on the River.

The September festival brings between 15,, visitors to the Riverwalk and Armature Works area.

Tampa Pride officials indicated they will try to convey the event back next year.

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — St. Pete Pride, Florida's largest LGBTQ+ Celebration celebration, began on Friday. Even as questions remain about how new laws may affect local Pride events, organizers are eager to share what they own planned for this year.

Lesbian, Homosexual, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month is currently held each June to commemorate the Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan.

The Stonewall Uprising was a watershed moment in the United States Same-sex attracted Liberation Movement.

The last Sunday in June in the United States was previously observed as "Gay Pride Day."

The "day" soon developed to cover a month-long series of events in major cities around the country.

Pride parades, picnics, parties, conferences, seminars, and concerts are now part of the celebrations, and LGBTQ Pride Month events draw millions of people from all over the world.

TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa Pride weekend is here, and ABC Operation News is bringing you everything you need to know about the festivities.

Tampa Pride Street Festival: a.m. - p.m.

Things launch Saturday, March 25, with the Tampa Pride avenue festival, which kicks off at a.m. It features an Arts & Crafts Show, Community Health Just and Entrepreneurs Area. The Main Stage will be located in the Cuban Club Courtyard. Here the Street Festival will thrust off at a.m. with the Tampa Bay Celebration Band and guest speakers, followed by featured entertainment.

The vendor areas are located in two main areas: E 9th Avenue & The HCC parking lot. The E 9th Route area is two blocks from N 13th Lane to N 15th Road. The second area comprises the HCC parking lot area.
