One issue of great importance to some of Proctor’s customers was the display of a rainbow flag outside of the bar’s entryway as a welcoming signal to people of all sexual orientations. Some owners of gay-friendly bars choose not to affiliate themselves as “gay bars” for apprehend that the title drives away potential customers.
