I'm totally unfamiliar with Rapid City, so I'm curious what the general attitude is toward gays and lesbians there. Is there an active queer community? Is the community overly conservative, or is it liberal? Would a gay person identify acceptance and friends there? |

South Dakota is renown for organism a very conservative state, so finding overwhelming acceptance of a gay lifestyle is out of the question. However, most people are accepting of a fresh person and are mature enough to see more than their sexual preference. Rapid City has a small gay scene. I hear that The Brass Rail bar downtown has evolved into a gay bar and I have seen same sex couples being intimate in public a few times.
